Sinquefield Cup: Aronian loses to Carlsen, shares 4th-5th spots

Levon Aronian yielded the leader's position at the final round of the Sinquefield Cup in St. Louis as he lost to Norway's Magnus Carlsen.

The Armenian thus shares the fourth and fifth spots with Sergey Karjakin of Russia, with France's Maxime Vachier-Lagrave scoring his career's best performance to win the fifth Sinquefield Cup.

Next is the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz, which will probably be the most publicized event of the year thanks to the participation of Garry Kasparov. It starts on Tuesday, August 15.

Participating in the tournament will be Fabiano Caruana, Karjakin, Hikaru Nakamura, Viswanathan Anand, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Aronian, David Navara, Le Quang Liem, Lenier Dominguez and Kasparov.
