Armenia, California mull establishing trade office in Los Angeles

Armenia's ambassador to the United States Grigor Hovhannissian on Thursday, September 7 met U.S. Representative for California Mimi Walters to discuss trade relations between the country and the U.S. state.

At the meeting in Washington, the two discussed Armenia's partnership with California and establishing a trade office in Los Angeles.

Earlier, Armenia and the United States discussed trade relations and investment opportunities.

According to the Armenian embassy in the U.S., ambassador Hovhannissian met with the American Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East Daniel Mullaney.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has repeatedly called for negotiating a U.S.-Armenia Double Tax Treaty to promote the growth of economic relations between the two countries.

The outdated forty-year-old 1973 U.S.-USSR Tax Treaty is recognized by the U.S. but not Armenia. Yerevan has repeatedly sought to replace this obsolete accord.
