Statue of Armenian newspaper hawker to be put up in Beirut

A monument to Armenian newspaper hawker Sarkis Doudakian will be erected in a Lebanese district called Bourj Hammoud in Beirut, which is heavily populated by Armenians.

The street vendor of newspapers was better known as Apolo among fellow Armenians.

Dudakyan delivered newspapers for many decades and never gave up his job despite his old age, Rusarminfo reports.

Authored by Vardan Avesian, the monument will be installed in honor of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian newspaper Azdak, published in Beirut.
