France refutes reports on end of arms embargo on Azerbaijan

The Embassy of France in Armenia on Wednesday, July 11 refuted reports about the alleged removal of an arms embargo against Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani media claimed earlier that French defense industry companies are purportedly trying to establish relations with the Azerbaijani armed forces. According to the reports, France had allegedly removed an embargo to allow the sale of military products to Azerbaijan.

“Information published by Azerbaijani media suggesting that France has abolished restrictions on the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan is fake,” the Embassy said in a statement.

The U.S. Congress has also banned non-humanitarian economic aid and weapons sales to Azerbaijan by adopting Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act.
