Turkish-backed rebels struggle to hold ground in Syria: report

The Turkish-backed rebels are struggling to hold their territories in the Idlib province as their former ally Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham sweeps through many of the province’s towns, Al-Masdar News reports.

According to the latest reports from Idlib, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham has captured another group of villages in the province, putting them at the outskirts of Ma’arat Al-Nu’man.

In addition to advancing near Ma’arat Al-Nu’man, the jihadist group has also scored a new advance inside the Al-Ghaab Plain, which is situated just south of Jisr Al-Shughour city.

Should Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham capture Ma’arat Al-Nu’man from the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front, they will be in control of two major cities inside the Idlib Governorate.
