Marriott mulls opening new hotels in Armenia

Marriott is considering to open more hotels in Armenia, President of Marriott International Arne Sorenson said at a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday, January 23.

Pashinyan and Sorensen discussed the possibilities of expanding the company’s activity in Armenia on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The PM said Marriott Hotel enjoys great popularity, and that the Armenian government is interested in the development and expansion of the internationally renowned hotel chain in the country.

Sorenson said, in turn, that they are considering new investment projects by Marriott International and the opening of new hotels in the country. Hailing the government’s efforts aimed at improving Armenia’s business environment, he expressed confidence that they would help effectively implement the projects in question.

As reported earlier, Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott International's brand that pioneered the select service category, will be opening a hotel in Yerevan, Armenia by the end of 2020.

The Alexander, a luxury hotel that was inaugurated in downtown Yerevan in March 2018, is part of the world-renowned chain of Luxury Collection Hotels owned by Marriott International.
