The Armenian government is going to send a plane loaded with humanitarian aid to Beirut, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Thursday, July 6.

"Armenia has expressed readiness to assist in overcoming the tragedy that befell the city, we will do our best to support the Lebanese government," he added.

According to him, Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan will leave for Beirut to learn more about the needs of the country's Armenian community.

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said the plane will most probably leave for Beirut on Saturday.

Rescuers are still searching for survivors after the blast at the capital’s port, which sent shock waves deep into the city, killing at least 135 and injured thousands. A number of countries are sending humanitarian aid and medical teams to Beirut.

The number of Armenians killed in the deadly explosions in Beirut has reached 11, Patriarchal Vicar of the Armenian Diocese of Kuwait, Petros Manvelyan, has revealed earlier.
