OSCE MG interested in speeding up negotiation process

PanARMENIAN.Net - The OSCE MG Co-chairs will visit the region after the Armenian parliamentary election, RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told reporters May 12. The Minister, who has recently returned to Yerevan from Strasbourg, said that there are no exact agreements on the terms of the visit yet. "I saw that the mediators are interested in speeding up the negotiation process," he said.

Minister Oskanian informed that the discussions focused on the further activities of the negotiating sides. "The Co-chairs are hopeful that the talks on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will prove more efficient upon completion of the parliamentary election in Armenia. They are going to visit the region to consider organization of a presidential meeting. It's not excluded that Foreign Ministers will meet before it," Mr Oskanian said.

He also informed that the substance of the settlement package was discussed in Strasbourg. "The Co-chairs gave new wordings to the issues which have not been coordinated yet," the Minister said, IA Regnum reports.

According to the schedule, the OSCE MG Co-chairs' regional visit will be followed by a visit of OSCE Chairman-in-Office Miguel Angel Moratinos.

The Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers may meet before the presidential meeting fixed for June 10 in Saint Petersburg.
