CIS observers open mission in YerevanJanuary 23, 2008 - 15:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Establishing an office in Yerevan, the CIS observation mission proceeded to monitoring of the forthcoming presidential elections.Mission head Vladimir Gorkun said that the group includes 5 members at the moment but some 150-170 observers will arrive on the eve of the presidential election. "We arrived on invitation of the Armenian Foreign Minister. The mission will function independently throughout the republic," he said. 9 candidates will run for president on February 19. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
