Azerbaijan's position on Karabakh pointless and unpromising

PanARMENIAN.Net - Baku keeps on insisting that its compromise is the agreement to continue talks on the Karabakh problem, said Major General Hayk Kotanjian, Head of the Institute for National Strategic Studies, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Armenia.



"Azerbaijan refuses a direct dialogue with NKR. By its public policy, it not only undermines the OSCE MG activities but also neglect recommendations of the Council of Europe (PACE resolution 1416 of January 25, 2005). Azerbaijan's recent attempts to disavow Russia, U.S. and France and to impose its resolution on the UN testify of Baku's counterproductive position. In other words, Azerbaijan's "compromise" is not commensurate either with the compromise as is understood by the Armenian side or with the compromise proposed by the mediators. Azerbaijan's position is pointless and unpromising.



Statements on adherence to norms and principles of the international law are false. Under the circumstances, the sides stand little chance for achieving agreement on the Karabakh issue," Major General Kotanjian said, the RA MoD press office reported.
