Armenia views deepening relations with U.S. as guarantee of economic development, democracy and regional stability

PanARMENIAN.Net - President Serzh Sargsyan received Thursday the representative of the American Jewish Committee, Ambassador Peter Rosenblatt, Director of Strategic Studies of the Committee Barry Jacobs, and Executive Director of the Armenian-American Public Affairs Committee Ross Vartian, the RA leader's press office reported.



According to President Sargsyan, Armenia is interested in further development of relations with the United States and views them as a guarantee of economic development, democracy and regional stability.



For his part, Amb. Rosenblatt noted that the Jewish Committee of America is one of the major Jewish organizations, which is intensely involved in international relations. He also said that they have been following developments in the South Caucasus region since 1990s and are well familiar with the situation. The AJC delegation last paid a visit to Armenia in 1999.



Interest of the American Jewish Committee toward Armenia and Armenian issues Peter Rosenblatt conditioned by close relations with the Armenian community of the United States.



The parties discussed issues pertaining to the Armenian-Turkish relations and opening of the border.



President Sargsyan reiterated that Armenia is interested in developing normal relations with all neighboring countries and that the official Yerevan is ready to establish relations with Turkey without preconditions.



Issues referring to Armenia-Israel relations were also discussed.
