Adoption of Armenian Genocide resolution in new U.S. Congress real

PanARMENIAN.Net - A resolution on the Armenian Genocide recognition can be introduced in the U.S. Congress in the near future and the new administration will hardly block its adoption, an Armenian professor said.

"With Barack Obama coming to power, recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States has become quite possible. Nevertheless, the 44th U.S. President will refrain from using the term 'genocide' in his April 24 statement," Ruben Safrastyan, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the RA Academy of Sciences, told a news conference in Yerevan today.

During his historical election campaign Obama numerously stated that "America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian Genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides."

He also pledged to cement the U.S.-Armenian relations, which will contribute to development of democracy in Armenia.
