RPA: Armenian authorities didn't clinch a deal with European structures

PanARMENIAN.Net - The opposition described the PACE decision not suspend Armenia's voting rights as a deal clinched between the republic's authorities and European structures.

"These rumors are untrue," Eduard Sharmazanov, a member of parliament and spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia, told a news conference in Yerevan today.

"The opposition claims that Armenia was compelled to certain concessions in the Karabakh issue in exchange for maintenance of voting rights. Circulating such rumors, the opposition demonstrates how it works. Similar statements were made last year as well," he said.

"The opposition is well aware that suspension of voting rights would limit Armenia's capabilities in the Karabakh process. Under the circumstances, it's surprising that some people prefer their personal ambitions to national interests," he added.

At the same time, Sharmazanov emphasized that the Armenian government is open for dialogue with the opposition.
