Democracy development in Armenia important for U.S.March 20, 2009 - 23:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan met with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch to discuss development of Armenia-U.S. relations and the steps Armenia undertakes to normalize relations with Turkey.In discussing the domestic situation, Mr. Abrahamyan said that Armenia is consistent in fulfillment of PACE resolutions. For her part, Ambassador Yovanovitch said that development of democracy in Armenia is important for the United States. She also said that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be resolved peacefully on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity and the right of nations to self-determination, the RA NA press office reported. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
