Barcamp informal open IT conference to be held on Apr.17-19 in ArmeniaApril 14, 2009 - 20:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - For first time in Armenia, Barcamp informal open IT conference will be held at AUA on Apr.17-19, 2009. BarCamp Yerevan will host IT specialists, entrepreneurs, students, journalist and bloggers as well as any other groups interested in using technology and Internet in their work. BarCamp is a new and innovative way to organize and run conferences, particularly on IT- related topics. At BarCamp all presentations are given by participants themselves, with no formally invited guest speakers. Despite traditional conferences, the schedule of the event is being "produced" by participants of the conference and gets formed only after the conference opens, as participants specify presentations they want to hold on a white board. BarCamps are traditionally produced by volunteers using the philosophy of "peer production", where a core group of organizers coordinates the volunteer efforts of dozens and often hundreds of volunteers. Over 200 local and international participants are expected to attend the event. Top stories Yerevan will host the 2024 edition of the World Congress On Information Technology (WCIT).
