"Stop the drug-resistant tuberculosis in Armenia" program launched in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 20 "Stop the drug-resistant tuberculosis in Armenia" program launched in Yerevan.



Besides healthcare structures, Doctors Without Boundaries organization and Red Cross Armenia with financial assistance of Elly Lily and Co are taking active participation in a struggle against the disease. Today action participants were distributing booklets containing information about the disease.





The action aims to increase society's awareness of drug-resistant tuberculosis.







Currently over one third of world population is suffering from the disease. 8-10 million people in the world are getting infected annually, with 2,7-3 million of lethal outcomes.





In RA official number of people sick with tuberculosis reaches 2125, 500 of whom are suffering from drug-resistant tuberculosis.





RA Ministry of Health is currently implementing a program entitled "Strengthening of national program for struggle again tuberculosis in RA".
