Ukraine specifies ethnonational policy priorities

PanARMENIAN.Net - Kiev hosted an "Priorities of Ethnonational policy in Ukraine" news conference, attended by Chairman of Ukraine's State Committee for National and Religious Affairs, Yuri Reshetnikov and Chairman of Committee for All Ukrainian National Minorities' Social Organizations at State Committee for National Religions, Ashot Avanesyan.



State Committee for National Religions has a significant experience in ethnonational issues legal regulation sphere, implementation of state policy in international relations sphere, national minorities' rights protection in accordance with Ukraine's Constitution and Ukraine's laws, promotion of cultural, linguistic, educational social and other rights of national minorities and harmonization of relations.



When questioned whether direct representation of national minorities in Ukraine's Supreme Rada is necessary, Yuri Reshetnikov responded that his institution is in charge of national minorities' interests' protection in the Cabinet of Ministers. Ashot Avanesyan added in his turn that a firm legislative basis should be worked out for national minorities' representatives in Supreme Rada. Over 130 nationalities reside in Ukraine and issues of every ethnic community are a state task, Analitika.at.ua reported.
