Yerevan to host exhibition of Emil Gazaz's recent works

PanARMENIAN.Net - On August 14, "Academy" gallery of Yerevan will host the exhibition-sale of painter and sculptor Emil Gazaz's works. The artist's sculptors and canvasses created over the recent years will be displayed in Armenia for the first time.

"Emil Gazaz's works fairly reflect late 20th and early 21st centuries' applied art. His works represent the texture and plasticity of Armenian mountains." RA Deputy Minister of Culture David Mouradyan told today a press conference.

Emil Gazaz's works have not been displayed in Armenia since 2005, his spouse Mane Hayryan said. The artist himself will not participate in exhibition because of overloaded work regime. He is preparing for two exhibitions, one of them planned at the end of the current year and the other, a big one, due in Armenia next year.

Emil Gazaz was born in Gyumri in 1953. In 1972, he left Terlemezyan Art College and in 1978, he graduated from Yerevan Fine Art and Cinema Institute. In 1980, Emil Gazaz emigrated to US and has been living there ever since.

At different times, his exhibitions were organized in Europe, Asia and South and North Americas. During the 2003 Biennale organized in Florence, the artist was awarded the "Best Sculptor" medal after Lorenzo Medici.
