Edward Sharmazanov: Yells are not sign of patriotism

PanARMENIAN.Net - If President had problems with Armenian community representatives, he wouldn't have met with them, RPA Press Secretary Edward Sharmazanov told a news conference in Yerevan. Even though Armenia considers and shares Diaspora's concerns, final decision on Armenian-Turkish normalization lies upon the country, i.e. RA President, National Assembly and relevant state bodies.

"We respect different parties' views but cannot cross permissible limits. No one in Armenia or Diaspora has the right to condemn Serzh Sargsyan's policy," he noted.

Speaker also criticized Diaspora for holding protest near Komitas monument in Paris, and shared President's view that demonstrator's had better kept silent, respecting Genocide victims. Yells are not sign of patriotism, Sharmazanov stressed.

"President started his all-Armenian tour from near Komitas monument with an aim to show that Armenia attaches great significance to Genocide recognition and in the person of President, does its best to re-establish justice," Sharmazanov said.

"All problems faced by country should be resolved, with Genocide recognition being a primary task. How many times a day should RA President or Foreign Minister speak about Genocide?" RPA Press Secretary asked.
