Turkey doesn't know when it will ratify protocols

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey tests Armenia, trying to grope the strengths and weaknesses of Yerevan, said Richard Giragosian, Director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS).

"The main test will come after the New Year. What price is Armenia ready to pay to open its border with Turkey and to restore diplomatic relations? This is the key point," he told a news conference in Yerevan. .

Commenting on ratification of Armenian-Turkish protocols, Mr. Giragosian noted that Turkey does not know when it will ratify the documents.

According to him, the Turkish parliament will likely try to delay ratification until February-March 2010 in order to link the ratification process to April 24 and thereby put pressure on the United States to prevent recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
