OSCE rep: situation in Karabakh may exacerbate

PanARMENIAN.Net - The situation in Nagorno Karabakh may exacerbate in the view of Armenia’s intention to launch air communication with the region, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Protracted Conflicts said.

Andrey Deshchitsa noted during Kyiv Strategic Discussion Club that the reluctance of Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders to hold a bilateral meeting generates threats. He said Ukraine's OSCE chairmanship addressed both sides to hold a meeting on presidential level as soon as possible.

Mr. Deshchitsa further noted the presidential elections in Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as Russia’s hosting of Sochi 2014 Olympics as stabilizing factors in the region.

“Russia plays a constructive role in the preservation of peace in the region,” he said.
