Yerevan to host presentation of Leo's "From the past"

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan hosted presentation of Leo's "From the past", which has been the second edition of the book. The book by famous Armenian writer and historian was first published in 1925, and was consigned to oblivion since.



''The book has to be made into a desk book for every Armenian, as fatal mistakes of Armenian nation, committed at the start of last century, are described here. I hope that a book ''From the past'' will help us avoid mistakes we keep repeating,'' book editor Mikhael Hayrapetyan said at the presentation.



The historic-publicist work of Leo Babakhanyan was re-published in 2009 by Shem Publishing House.



Leo Babakhanyan is an Armenian historian, writer, philologist, professor, member of the Institute of Science and Art of the Armenian SSR. Leo was born in 1860 in Shushi. After the conclusion of the local school Leo was involved in self-education. During the period from 1906 till 1907 Leo taught in Gevorgyan Seminary in Echmiadzin. Later he moved to Tiflis and entirely devoted himself to scientific work. From 1924 till the very last days of his life Leo worked as a teacher at Yerevan State University. The comprehensive scientific and cultural heritage of Leo includes numerous monographs, articles, research in literature and pieces of literature. Leo significantly contributed to the development of the Armenian historiography.
