UNESCO headquarters hosted CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra concert

PanARMENIAN.Net - Conductor of the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra Vladimir Spivakov said that the orchestra will perform in capitals of CIS countries – Baku, Yerevan, Astana, Moscow, Ashgabat and Kiev this fall.

On May 10, UNESCO headquarters hosted a concert of the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the World War II Victory, Press Secretary of the CIS Foundation of Humanitarian Cooperation Alexander Kalugin informed PanARMENIAN.Net

The orchestra consists of 93 young musicians from 11 CIS countries.

The concert was organized by Russia's Permanent Representation in the UNESCO and CIS Foundation of Humanitarian Cooperation (FHC), through the assistance of Permanent Representations of CIS countries in the UNESCO.

UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova said that the concert is a brilliant example of potential cultural dialogue.

According to Russian President’s Special Representative, Co-Chairman of the FHC Board Mikhail Shvydkoy, the orchestra is an ideal model of international organization, as all its decisions are adopted through a consensus.

The concert lasted for two hours and the audience greeted each performance with applause.

Ukrainian pianist, laureate of international contests Alexander Gavrilyuk also participated in the concert.

On May 7, the UN General Assembly hosted a similar concert by the orchestra, which was also welcomed by the audience.

Armenia is represented by seven musicians:

Aram Beknazaryan - percussion Lusine Harutyunyan - violin Ashot Dumanyan - violin Shaghik Martirosyan - violin Tatevik Shahinyan - violin Veronika Vardpatrikyan - viola Artem Nagdyan – violoncello.
