Kinoashun to become good tradition in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the National Cinema Center of Armenia (NCC) Gevorg Gevorgyan said that Kinoashun (Autumn Cinema) festival was organized in Armenia this year for the first time at the initiative of NCC.

“From now on October will be the month of national cinema. And Armenian films will be screened for a month every year. The festival aims to restore traditions of local films screening,” Gevorgyan told a press conference on December 16 in Yerevan, summarizing the results of 2010.

According to him, numerous positive comments have been received from cinema lovers of Armenia and Diaspora with respect to Kinoashun festival.

Gevorgyan added that old and new Armenian films were screened for a month in Armavir, Gegharkunik, Kotayk and Shirak. Besides, exclusive films, about which the audience had no idea, were screened at Moscow cinema as part of the festival.

“We plan to change the format of Kinoashun in future to expand it. We want to restore cinema network idea, create centers in the country’s regions and districts of Yerevan to organize regular as well as open-air film screenings,” said Gevorgyan.
