It marked a trifecta for Pacino: He had already won the Emmy and the Golden Globe for the HBO movie. He was not present the accept the award. He was competing in this category against John Goodman, also in "You Don't Know Jack," Dennis Quaid for "The Special Relationship," Patrick Stewart for "Macbeth" and Edgar Ramirez for "Carlos."
