Audronius Azubalis: we’re demonstrating Lithuania’s “sacred object” at Armenian “sanctuary”

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 17, the National Gallery of Armenia hosted the opening of the exhibition, featuring works of Lithuanian painter and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis.

The event was attended by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia Giedrius Apuokas as well as other foreign ambassadors accredited to Armenia.

Giving positive assessment to the development of Armenia-Lithuania cultural relations, Mr. Azubalis noted, “by exhibiting the works of the most famous Lithuanian painter at the National Gallery of Armenia, we’re demonstrating Lithuania’s “sacred object” at Armenian “sanctuary.”

The exhibition will last till March 31.

Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis (22 September 1875 –10 April 1911) was a Lithuanian painter and composer. Ciurlionis contributed to symbolism and art nouveau and was representative of the fin de siecle epoch. During his short life he composed about 250 pieces of music and created about 300 paintings. His works have had a profound influence on modern Lithuanian culture.
