Politics: ARMENIA ABOLISHES DEATH PENALTYYerevan fulfilled the main commitment undertaken while joining the Council of Europe. September 12, 2003 On 9th September the National Assembly of Armenia ratified the 6th protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights which supposed the abolishment of death penalty. Armenia became the 41st European country abolishing the death penalty. At present only 4 member states of the Council of Europe continue have the death penalty in their legislations. ![]() |
