Ankara is seriously concerned with the possibility that the US Congress might adopt a Resolution on the Armenian Genocide committed in 1915 in Ottoman Turkey. According to the Press Secretary of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Namik Tan, such a step will have a great influence on the partnership and strategic relations of the two countries. Tan is concerned that the Democratic Majority of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which, as Ankara thinks is "in the hands of the Armenian Lobby", might adopt the Resolution on the Armenian Genocide.
