On May 9, 1992 Shushi was liberated. Liberation of Shushi was very crucial and first of all because it was of great strategic significance. Shushi's liberation had its decisive say on the further development of the National Liberation Movement. Constant bombings left the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh all in ruins, killing hundreds of people. This had to be put an end to somehow.
