Reforms to be implemented in tax system of Armenia

Recently, the State Committee of Revenues published the Analysis of Summarized Indices of Large Taxpayers' Monitoring in February 2010. Basically, positive indices were recorded for 344 largest taxpayers of Armenia; specifically the volume of goods and services imported to Armenia totaled AMD 53.4 billion in February 2010 that is 55.1% higher as compared with the same period of last year. Meanwhile, the increase of this index is conditioned not only by goods’ import for commercial purposes, but also by import of expensive equipment to Armenia. It had a direct impact on customs fees, which amounted to 10.9 billion in February 2010 that is 49.9% higher as compared with the same period of last year. Besides, the volumes of goods exported by the largest taxpayers totaled AMD 19.8 billions in February 2010 that is 9.3bln higher as compared with the same period of last year.

No matter how eagerly Turkey hopes that after April 24 it’ll be possible to forget about the Armenian Genocide for at least a year, it never happens. This time the troublemakers were Israel and Ukraine. But for one nuisance, it would have been reasonable: both of these countries seem to be allies and partners of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Hockey: Armenian hockey players win silver at Division III World Championship which took place in Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex from April 14 to 18. In the first round, Mongolia vs. North Korea match ended 22:1. Armenia beat the South African Republic 9: 2, wining all three periods. On April 15, Armenian ice-hockey players beat North Korea 7:6. South African Republic vs. Monglolia match ended 12:1. Ending the final match vs. North Korea 2:5, Armenian hockey players won the Championship silver. South African Republic won bronze, defeating Mongolia.

2010 promises to be the year of rebirth of Armenian cinematography, according to Gevorg Gevorgyan, director of the Armenian National Film Center. “The ANFC will present 35 movies at Cannes festival movie market,” he told a news conference in Yerevan. As he stated, 8 animated films, 4 documentaries, 12 debuts, 3 short and 8 full length films will be screened at Cannes International Film Festival on May 12-23.
