June 7, 2016PanARMENIAN.Net - The number of women living in Armenia is 132,302 more than men. Women’s average duration of life is 78 years, while men live 72 years on average. Women make 52% of the population of the Republic of Armenia The average net salary earned by men totals AMD 141,585, while women earn AMD 94,006 (the difference is AMD 45,500 which can amount to a pair of concert tickets or several gym attendances). At an annual rate, the difference would make AMD 546,000, which equals to the price of a journey to a tropical country. In ten years the sum would rise to AMD 5,460,000, a price of a Japanese or German car in good keep. In 45 years, or during the whole job tenure the sum will rise to AMD 24,6 million, which can buy a 2-bedroom apartment in a suburb of Yerevan. Women in Armenia earn about 32% less than men 15 cases of abortion are registered per 1000 women. According to official statistical data, girls marry at the age of 25,5 in cities and at 26,8 in rural areas. The number of Armenian women diagnosed with venereal diseases is half as many as men. Women who want to adopt a child are twice as many as men 47,5% of children in orphanages are girls, while 69% of those who adopt children are women. 93,1% of children in one-parent families live with mothers and 6,9% with fathers. In 2014-2015, 52.2% of university students and 65.8% of students taking Master’s degree program were female. 65,2% of music school, students are girls. According to 2014 data, Armenia had 3 women ministers, 9 deputy ministers, 14 members of parliament and 54 judges. Only 3 out of Armenia’s ambassadors abroad are women. Divorced women working for two or more companies are 11 times as many as men 48% of Armenian employees are female. Although 58.3% of civil servants are female, only 45% of women work in private sector. In all, the number of women working for more than one company is less than that of men - 61.8% of men against 31.2% of women. However, the number rises significantly in case with divorced or widowed women.
