Armenian banks to increase their capital during crisisJuly 6, 2009 - 23:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - There are 3 banks that have already increased their capital, CBA Chairman Arthur Djavadyan told a news conference devoted to the end of the process of Lebanese Credit Bank's acquisition of 51% Armenian Bank's shares. "The Lebaanese Bank's investment comprise over AMD 9 billion, and this is the third largest capital transaction for 2009."The former two transactions were concluded with Unibank and Armbusinessbank whose capitals increased by AMD 10 billion and AMD 3 billion resecitvely, CBA Chairman noted. "The Lebanese Bank's investments are unprecedented in terms of the amount invested. I hope that such investments in Armenian banking system will continue during the current year," he said. According to Djavadyan, CBA has already received several claims from Armenian banks for increasing their capital, and that testifies to the Government's right policy, Djavadyan said. Besides, he added, two international organizations have already submitted claims for opening a new bank. As regards the Armenian banks, one of them has confirmed its decision to increase its capital by AMD 15 million. The other bank has already made a relevant decision and submitted it to Central Bank's consideration and the third bank sent its claim several days ago.
