WB: it is necessary to stimulate Armenia’s economy due to growth in agriculture

PanARMENIAN.Net - The World Bank participated in a discussion on increasing competitiveness of rural communities and their resources management.

The event was organized by the Public Council jointly with the RA Ministry of Agriculture.

Jean-Michel Happi, the World Bank Country Manager for Armenia, said that currently the WB has a range of programs, which are at a preparation stage, specifically, the program on communities and resources management, as well as programs in the field of energy, state finance management and road rehabilitation.

Happi said that the global economic crisis has revealed the necessity to stimulate various directions of economic growth in the country.

According to him, profitable programs should be implemented to help the public overcome poverty.

“Agriculture may play an important role in the recovery of Armenia’s economy after the crisis,” concluded Happi.
