Discovery Trail: Armenian Kings, Queens and Princes tourist project launched in ArmeniaJune 4, 2010 - 19:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - VivaCell-MTS, Mobile TeleSystems OJSC subsidiary announced the launch of Discovery Trail: Armenian Kings, Queens and Princes on the initiative of Armenian Monuments Awareness Project (AMAP). The Discovery Trail is a brand new idea for tourism in Armenia, linking Armenian monuments together by theme into day drive tours. This first trail for 2010, Kings, Queens and Princes, will celebrate the royal dynasties that forged the Armenian nation and led it to glory. The tour will encompass all of the Ararat Valley, with the inaugural installation at Agarak excavation (3rdmillennium BCE) with its extraordinarily rich findings proving its place as one of the largest worship sites in the ancient world, and the 4thcentury grave for the Arshakuni dynasty. Agarak is especially important as the site of 1stcentury Christian graves, marking it as perhaps the oldest Christian burial ground discovered in the region. This is AMAP’s third presentation in 2010 and is a landmark in the project’s short history by installing Discovery Trails for Armenia. The project was sponsored by VivaCell-MTS, the US Ambassadors Cultural Fund, USAID/CAPS, Honorary Consul for Italy in Gyumri and Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, VivaCell-MTS press service reported.
