Multi-language panels installed on Erebuni excavation site

PanARMENIAN.Net - Multi-language panels for Erebuni excavation and Erebuni Historic-Archeological Museum-Preserve were installed in the territory of the historical location.

Mobile TeleSystems OJSC subsidiary VivaCell-MTS held a presentation of multi-language panels for Erebuni excavation and Erebuni Historic-Archeological Museum-Preserve at the Erebuni Museum.

Erebuni is a fortress city from the ancient kingdom of Urartu. It was one of several fortress-cities built along the northern Urartu state border and was one of its most important political, economic and cultural centers. The name Yerevan itself is believed to have derived from Erebuni.

During 2010, 130 panels, markers and signs at 26 monument locations, 21 Braille panels, two Rest Stops and village craft centers were installed. Also, 14 public events celebrating the monuments and culture of Armenia were organized by AMAP.

“These initiatives aim at promoting awareness of Armenian monuments not only among tourists, but among Armenian people as well. Most of us, living in this country for years, have no notion about such wonders that exist around us. We must realize that during many centuries our ancient nation has survived through lots of disasters due to one thing – our ancestors preserved our cultural and historical values and passed them to the next generations as the only guarantee of preserving our national identity. Now it’s our turn to take the responsibility for this priceless heritage”, stated VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

The general sponsor of AMAP projects is Armenia’s leading mobile operator VivaCell-MTS, sponsors are the Honorary Consul for Italy in Gyumri, the US Ambassadors Cultural Fund, USAID/CAPS and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, VivaCell-MTS press service reported.
