Chloe Moretz to star in “Carrie” horror film?

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chloe Moretz is rumoured to be in the running to play Carrie in a reboot of the 70s horror film, Belfast Telegraph said.

The 15-year-old actress - who made a splash as foul-mouthed child assassin Hit-Girl in 2010's Kick-Ass - is among the young stars who have read for the part in the new adaptation of Stephen King's book, reports New York Magazine's Vulture blog.

Chloe, who is this year's recipient of CinemaCon's Female Star Of Tomorrow award, apparently has some competition as The Hole's Haley Bennett is also a front-runner to take on the role of the outcast teen with telekinetic powers.

Other stars who have previously been linked to the part - played by Sissy Spacek in the original film - include Dakota Fanning and Shailene Woodley.

Director Kimberly Peirce is reportedly interested in adding Jodie Foster or Julianne Moore to the cast as Carrie's mother.

The original film was a box office success when it was released in 1976 and both Spacek and Piper Laurie, who played Carrie's mum, were nominated for Oscars for their performance. Spacek was also given the Best Actress award by the National Society of Film Critics.
