Armenia to benefit from eurozone's mobile tariffs in summer

One of the three largest Russian operators MegaFon is conducting negotiations with other mobile operators including Orange Armenia on Armenia’s joining Eurozone’s basic tariffs, according to MegaFon’s Corporate Communications Manager.

As Karen Asoyan told a press conference on March 30, MegaFon has recently 6 times lowered international roaming rates for European counties.

“Certainly, we will expand the geography of the basic tariff, with Armenia to become the next country to undertake the activity,” he said.

In conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Mr. Asoyan noted that according to the preliminary plans, the tariff will become available for Armenia already in May, 2012, or in summer at the latest.

On March 30, Orange Armenia and MegaFon announced the launch of a strategic partnership. Due to this new cooperation, Orange customers will henceforth benefit from unprecedented tariffs when roaming in Russia. In particular, when using the roaming service in MegaFon network, Orange Armenia customers will make and receive calls to and from Orange Armenia and MegaFon customers at only 30 AMD/minute rate.
