Whitney Houston's final film trailer released

A trailer for Whitney Houston's final film has made its debut on US TV, Belfast Telegraph reported.Viewers got a first glimpse of the late singer's movie, Sparkle, when NBC's Today show premiered the trailer on Monday, April 2.

A remake of the 1976 original, Sparkle stars Houston - who drowned in a bath at a Beverly Hills hotel on the eve of the Grammys in February - as the mother of three girls who form a singing group and struggle with fame and drug addiction.

Houston was poised for a movie comeback in Sparkle, 20 years after her role in The Bodyguard. The singer was also an executive producer on the project.

The brief trailer displayed the daughters in performance and Houston telling them: "I always knew you had the gift."

The movie is due to be released later this year.
