Samsung has delayed the release of its Galaxy Tab 2 family until the end of the month because Android 4 is proving tricky to adapt to, TechEYE.net reported.

Samsung's low-cost tablets, the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) and Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) were announced in February and it was claimed that they would be in UK shops in March, and then be rolled out globally. But nothing happened.

Samsung is saying that the products were delayed because Samsung and Google needed do some work on Ice Cream Sandwich.

When it was launched, the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) was expected to be the first Samsung tablet to get the latest version of Android.

This is yet another delay for Samsung. Last month the upgrade for the original Galaxy Note was delayed until the middle of the year when it was supposed to be released in the first quarter. Much to the annoyance of users, Samsung started upgrading the Galaxy S II phone.

According to ITWorld, there is a backlog of phones and tablets that need to be upgraded including the Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, 7.7, 8.9, 8.9 LTE and 10.1.

When Samsung sorts out its icecream sandwich the Galaxy Tab 2 models will be available in 3G and Wi-Fi versions. The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) will have a 7-inch screen with a 1024-by-600 pixel resolution. The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) will have a 0.1-inch screen with a 1280-by-800 pixel resolution.
