ARMENIAN FM MADE STATEMENT ON 10-TH ANNIVERSARY OF RWANDAN GENOCIDE
Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian made a statement on occasion of the 10-th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. As reported by RA MFA press service the statement says, in part, that the Rwandan Genocide was perpetrated at the time when the international community disposed of all the means to prevent this appalling crime. "What happened in Rwanda testifies of the danger of unredeemed fault, silence, indifference, vicious practice of living for satisfying today's needs. Impunity gives rise to new crime, unrecognized outrage begets new evil deed. The 20-th century began and ended in genocides. Today we entered the third millennium and we must leave the heavy burden in the past. Thus, the best way for preventing the evil is to give a fair and correct assessment of the tragic events of the past. We should present the evaluation based not upon revenge but on the desire to protect humanity from the evil", the statement of the RA FM says.
