Alex Proyas to direct “Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag” April 11, 2012 - 13:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Alex Proyas will direct “The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag” a film adaption of a Robert Heinlein novella that Proyas has written for the big screen. Red Granite Pictures will fully fund the film and will also handle foreign sales, The Wrap reported. Red Granite’s Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland will produce with Mythology Entertainment’s Bradley Fischer, Phoenix Pictures' Mike Medavoy and Arnie Messier and Proyas’ Mystery Clock Cinema. Proyas, director of “I, Robot” and “Dark City,” has seen his last two projects – “Dracula Year Zero” and “Paradise Lost” - stall due to budgetary constraints, but this one has a financial imprimatur for now. “Hoag,” based on a novella by Heinlein, a science fiction author, is the story of Jonathan Hoag, a man who has lost his memory and is convinced he has committed various crimes. He persuades a husband-wife detective duo to follow him to try and verify his sordid dealings. Heinlein’s stories have also served as the basis for films such as “Starship Troopers” and “The Puppet Masters.” The release trumpets this as the first of many collaborations between Red Granite and Mythology.
