USAID to allocate USD 800 000 for two Armenian projects

Armenia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and USAID Armenian office signed two agreements on April 16, according to which grants worth USD 200000 and USD 600000 will fund implementation of “Support to women who faced domestic violence” and “Pension awareness” projects.

Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arthur Grigoryan said that the ministry has undertaken some moves with regard to the first project, and the grant funding will further increase the project’s efficiency.

As to the pension project, any reform will prove more effective given increased awareness of the society, Grigoryan mentioned.

This project aims to inform the current pensioners, as well as pensioners-to-be about the new multi-tier pension system expected to be implemented since 2014.

For this purpose, Pension system awareness system foundation has been established. The “Support to women who faced domestic violence” project seeks to expand the range of services provided to women who suffered violence.
