NAGORNO KARABAKH SKEPTICALLY TREATS AZERIS' STATEMENTS ON SHUSHI CAMPAIGN
Nagorno Karabakh rather skeptically treats the intention of the Azeri Organization for Karabakh Liberation (OKL) to launch a campaign to Nagorno Karabakh May 8 with the final point in the town of Shushi. As NKR's President's Administration member David Babayan told Arminfo agency, the action is for most part aiming to work up public opinion and attract the dying attention of the Azeri people, who are much more concerned over social issues at present. With such a gamble the organizers of the actions try to divert the society from the domestic problems, D. Babayan noted, adding that OKL also wishes to show its political significance. In his turn, NKR parliament deputy Maxim Mirzoyan considers that the intentions of the Azeri organization appear as a mere venture and political intrigue. "If Baku really strives for peaceful settlement of the problem, the optimal way out would have been already found", Mirzoian stated. In the opinion of one of the leaders of Hayk's Generation youth organization Yervand Gajiyan, the present action is more than populist and has an objective to lift the competitive spirit of the Azeri society at the threshold of new peaceful attempts to settle the conflict and make the Azeris uncompromising for the Karabakh issue.
