Written and directed by Haneke, the movie stars Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva and Isabelle Huppert. The movie centers on an elderly couple whose love is tested when the wife has an attack. They are both retired music teachers; Huppert plays their daughter, also a musician. Stefan Arndt, Veit Heiduschka, and Margaret Ménégoz produced the film with Austrian co-producer Michael Katz. It is the third Haneke film Sony Classics will distribute in the U.S., following “Cache” and “The White Ribbon.” “American audiences are in for a moving experience,” Sony Classic said in a statement. Warner Independent distributed the American adaptation of Haneke’s “Funny Games” in 2007.
