UNESCO regional conference underway in YerevanApril 21, 2012 - 15:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan's Matenadaran (the museum-institute of ancient manuscripts) hosts a two-day “Cultural Policy and Policy for Culture: Culture and Development” conference. The event is organized by Armenian Ministry of Culture with the support of the UNESCO Moscow Office. Speaking at the opening of the conference, Armenian Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan said culture is the key basis to build other relations upon. “I’m happy that today’s conference will touch upon different aspects of preserving the cultural heritage and the written heritage,” the Minister said. Lyubava Moreva, representative of UNESCO Office in Moscow also welcomed the participants. The event brings together UNESCO representatives, culture ministries delegations from other countries, members of international literature organizations, etc. Two plenary sessions will include panel discussions on World Heritage and Sustainable Development: Issues and Prospects and Cultural Diversity for Development: Written Heritage in Focus.
