ARMENIA INTENDS TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN NATO COMING MANEUVERS IN AZERBAIJAN
Armenia is not going to have a symbolical participation in the Cooperative Best Effort-2004 maneuvers, being held in Azerbaijan within the NATO Partnership for Peace program. As reported by Mediamax agency, this was stated by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Colonel General Mikayel Harutyunian at the session of the staff chiefs of the Military Committee of the Council of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership in Brussels. "The Cooperative Best Effort is the only exercise held within the Partnership framework, which lets train our elements for peacekeeping. We do not intend to politicize the matter, but the exercises will be valuable to us only if we participate in them at the level of an element. Otherwise, we do not consider it necessary to participate in these or any other measures within the Partnership framework symbolically," the General stated. It should be reminded that this January the Azeri authorities did not admit Armenian officers to arrive in Baku to participate in a conference on planning the Cooperative Best Effort-2004 maneuvers.
