Armenian Genocide commemorated in Greece

On April 22, Greek city of Thessaloniki hosted an event dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. A number of Greek officials and Armenian community representatives came up with speeches, followed by a march to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a wreath-laying ceremony.

Another Greek city of Alexandroupoli also hosted a commemorative event on the same day, with representatives of Armenian community, local media and representative of the Mayor participating. Following a lecture on Armenian Genocide by a Greek historian, participants marched to the St. Garabed Church and laid wreaths to the khachkar.

Greek government and parliament members, as well as public figures participated in all of the commemorative events, which gained large coverage by local media.
