Economist forecasts 2-digit agricultural growth by fall

Professor, head of Alternative research center Tatul Manaseryan believes two-digit growth will be recorded in Armenia’s agriculture by September-October 2012, saying macroeconomic indices of Q1 2012 demonstrate certain stability, and this tendency seems to be continuing.

“If these tendencies are maintained, the growth in the agriculture may hit a two-digit figure,” Manaseryan told journalists in Yerevan on April 25.

The economist grounded his forecast by 2011 economic growth figures and the agrarian policy pursued by the authorities, as well as favorable weather conditions able to provide for a rich harvest in autumn.

According to the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, gross output in agriculture in January-March 2012 made AMD 65.4 mln, recording no change against the same period in 2011.
