AGREEMENT ON IRAN-ARMENIA GAS PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION TO BE SIGNED TOMORROW
Iranian minister of oil and gas Bijan Zangeneh is arriving in Armenia on a one-day visit May 13. As reported by the press service of the Armenian ministry of energy, the principal goal of the Iranian minister's visit is the concluding of general agreement on the construction of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline. To note, the project provides for construction of pipeline extending for 100 km along the Iranian territory and 41 km along the territory of Armenia. 1,5 million of cubic meters of comparably cheap Turkmen gas will be delivered through the pipeline every day. The prospective expense of the project amounts in $96 million with the initial power of 1 billion cubic meters per year. As Armenian energy minister Armen Movsissian stated earlier, according to the document construction works, which will be completed approximately in 2006, are to begin this year.
