EU observers report progress during election campaign

EU observers recorded progress during the election campaign, with main parties having been granted balanced media coverage.

At a press conference on May 7 in Yerevan, they highlighted the charity element during elections, particularly distribution of 500 tractors by Prosperous Armenia, as well as the use of schools by other political forces during the campaign.

Today, May 7, heads of observer missions from European Parliament, PACE, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and OSCE/ODIHR issued a joint statement, stating that the drawbacks registered during May 6 parliamentary elections won’t significantly affect the outcomes.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is to see these elections and our preliminary findings in the broader context and as the beginning of the process, not the end,” said Krzysztof Lisek, the Head of the European Parliament delegation.
